Extreme 6-Hour Energy Shot

All right, I have been waiting so long to finally review one of these. I received this while I was recently out of town. This is not a can, but a two ounce bottle. The bottle reads: "Extreme Energy 6-hour Shot. World's most extreme energy shot. Works blazing fast, No crashing, Zero Sugar. The background consists of flames along side a black color. I am a little nervous to try this, but I will anyway. So, let's get down to business.

As I untwisted the cap and peeled off the wrapper, I noticed a sweet, nectar-like scent. I got in for a closer smell; it smells like a super-sweet gatorade. As I pour this drink into a cup, a thin blood-red color caught my eye. This drink Is super bitter and does not go down easily. I can't put my finger on the taste. I think it is a mix between raspberry, cranberry, and blueberry. However, it is not how you would expect it to taste like. Imagine having all of those flavors in your mouth, but having the sugar taken out of it. I am glad that was a shot because I cannot bear the bitterness and aftertaste. Remember, this drink is to get you energized, not give you flavor and sweetness. This is extreme on kick.

Alright, this could be irrelevantly short, but here comes the ingredients: surprisingly, purified water comes in as the main ingredient. Next comes the organic ingredients: green tea and acai extracts are found in this drink as well as 1.6 g of taurine. I am happy to declare that this drink clocks in at 5 calories per bottle and 1 g of carbohydrates. Oh, and lastly I see that this drink has sucralose in it, most likely similar to sucrose. I noticed that this drink will get you focused instead of making you shaky and hyper. Overall, if you want a major kick and not a lot to drink, I recommend you try this shot.

*Disclaimer: As you may have read the comments below, this particular energy shot may produce some gnarly side effects such as: high-fever, vomiting, increased heart rate, nausea, severe stomach pain, and in some cases, violent shaking. However, some consumers, like myself, feel no side effects whatsoever. Drink with caution, and take the proper steps if you feel any or all of these side effects.

Taste: 3 - Once again, not meant for taste
Kick: 10 - I would give this at least a 25, but I know we have to be realistic
Overall: 9 - Awesome kick, but not good enough for a perfect score

I am a huge fan of energy shots and have used the 5-hour energy brand (red and yellow bottle) for a long time and i love them. I found "Extreme 6-Hour Energy Shot" on sale and it was cheaper so i thought i'd give it a shot...no pun intended. Anyway I took it 4 hours ago and I just want it to end already! Yes it does work very fast and I do have an extremely abundant amount of energy but 15 minutes in I started to feel queasy. My stomach hurts so badly i feel as if it is bleeding. My apartment is 75 degrees Fahrenheit but i am freezing. I puked 2 hours after taking the shot and realized then that it had never even left my stomach. I still feel horrible. What I can say is it is a great dietary supplement because I am too nauseous to eat anything! Perhaps I had a "faulty" shot but I will definitely stick to the 5-hour energy brand from now on.

This was my first experience with Energy Shots. I only bought it because I had a rebate at Walgreens for the full price. I waited for one of those days when I didn't get enough sleep and needed to get a lot done at work. I fully expected the reaction I used to get from my college dyas taking No-Doze to study for exams. Those pills made me feel shakey and if I did not eat enough they would make my stomach upset. But this was different. I got the caffeine boost with out the shakey, queasy feeling. Now I only took half the bottle in one day - that was plenty for me. I knew it would be because 220mg of caffeine is much more than I need.

I am amazed that I have become a big fan of this product. I guess it is all those vitamins that make me feel so good when I take it - makes me realize I should be taking a daily muti-vitamin.

Now that I only have a half-dose left (took it on 3 different occasions and all were good experiences), I will be willing to pay full price for more.

I think the rebate promotion was successful marketing on me because I never would have tried an energy drink otherwise. And I love that it is small and minimal calories.

I totally disagree with the complaint about taste. I liked it - it's not as strong as cough syrup but similar consistency and I didn't even need a chaser.

Awesome comment, dude, very cool. We love these personal stories you guys give us. It's great to know what you guys think. And, yeah, the taste varies from person to person to person; some may like it, others might not.

I found a bunch of these on sale and thought they looked interesting. The ingredients are quite similar to a diet supplement I take. I actually like the taste, it doesn't seem bitter to me as with the first reviewer. After the first shot I started feeling more energized and motivated. That was three hours ago and I still feel great, no queaziness, rapid heartbeat, or stomach issues at all. I'm not jittery, and the tyrosine in it even seems to help my mood. I really like this blend and am heading out tonight to buy the rest of them! A+ review :)

Friend just drank a whole bottle & within minutes had an allergic reaction, skin turned bright red, hives, elevated heart rate, stomache pain, he's now at the emergency room; says he's never had an allergic reaction to anything before.

I've tried both the 6 & the 5 hr shots & prefer the 5, but would suggest to anyone trying them to try half the the bottle first to make sure their not allergic.

I've tried a lot of energy drinks and a few shots, but none hit like this. I drank it in the morning right before I ate (might have been a mistake). I thought the taste was fine, not as bitter as the above said. 15 minutes after I drank it I felt queezy for 3 minutes and it felt like someone punched me in the kidney pretty hard. Those feelings subsided followed by a feeling of all over heat, like I had a minor fever. That lessened a few minutes later. It certainly gave me a ton of energy and I only felt a little jittery. It does focus you, but it's pretty intense. I recommend half the bottle with some food in you to start. Overall, it was an interesting experience

Yeah, you wanna be careful with shots. Very cool, and, yeah, that feverish sensation you felt is actually mentioned on the bottle, it's called a Niacin Flush. It happens when your skin gets more blood flow than usual due to the B Vitamins.

I took a whole shot 30 minutes ago. After 5 minutes I got jittery, another 5 minutes my face felt hot and turned all red. I then felt warm like a volcano. Now I sit here in T-shirt in an open window in January to cool down. Unfortunately I'm at work because I just want to go out and run hard; lift heavy weights and pull loads of logs across boulder fields. This is a serious energy kick. It is a very interesting feeling, I'm not sure what to think about it. I'd say only use when you really need it.

Never tried energy shots- never posted a comment. But here goes- My face was bright red W/I 3 minutes.- luckily no breathing or vision problems, but I still freakied out. (didn't do ANY homewoirk and think it may be the Niacin flush referred to).
no extra energy, no boost, no rush, no 2nd try. waste of time and complexion.

Just a warning....beware of this energy shot. I had an alergic reaction 10 minutes after my boyfriend and I took it. It isn't kidding when it states it "works BLAZING fast". I have NEVER had an alergic reaction like this before and thought if it affected me the way it did, I should let others know about it. I was sitting outside on the covered patio when I noticed my face felt on fire. My face and lips felt like I was sitting 2 inches from a furnace with my face growing toward it from the swelling. I was covered in lovely shades of lobster red in huge splotches. I had a shortness of breath, but took Benadryl fast enough to slow all the symptoms down. I will add that my boyfriend did not experience the same adverse reactions. The whole experience left me worse off than before I took the energy shot.

Anonymous said...

I took the 6 hr Extreme Energy shot today and within 1 minute my face and lips became swollen. My face was hot and I developed red patches all over my neck.
I have never had this kind of reaction to anything. Took 2 Benadryl and feel a little better aside from an upset stomach. BE CAREFUL! I am now going to fall asleep at my desk in a Benadryl induced coma.....

I had one of these drinks this morning and within 2 minutes I had stomach cramps, an extreme burning sensation on my face and then my entire body. My face and entire body skin turned red.
I would not take this particular drink again and would warn anyone who is in the least bit sensitive to this kind of reaction to beware.
Even hours later my stomach is still queasy.

Canned Reviewer said...

All right, it seems to me that this particular energy shot has pretty severe side effects, wouldn't you agree. I'm going to put a disclaimer on this review, warning bloggers and drinkers about what may happen to them. Perhaps they should recall this drink?

I have to add how terrible I think this is. I received a two-pack of the orange flavor as a sample with an order from BodyBuilding.com

I like energy drinks (usually rock star or monster sugar free/low carb) so caffeine doesn't have much of an effect on me usually.

I took this in the morning as I was pretty sleepy and needed a boost before eating breakfast and going to the gym.

Within 2-3 minutes I was laying on my bathroom floor holding my stomach which felt like it was eating itself from the inside. I tried to make myself throwup but all I could do was heave with only 2oz of liquid in my stomach. After about 10 minutes it finally subsided and I drank some water and bread to absorb this stuff in my stomach.

Worst stomach pain I have EVER had. And I have the strongest stomach of anybody I know.

When I feel I can stand up I'm going to go throw the other bottle away so nobody else drinks it.

How can this company make this stuff with so many reports of people having negative reactions?

Oh boy! This is awful! I have taken the 5 hour energy with great results and no problems. I saw this at WalMart and thought to give it a go. I was taking the kids to church tonight and drank it on the way there. The first thing I noticed was that it made my tongue BURN! within 5 minutes my hands were itching, and 1 minute later (as I dropped the kids off) my face was brilliant red and swelling. I drove straight to Walgreens for some benedryl 1 1/2 blocks away and didn't know if I was going to make it! I have NEVER had an allergic reaction of this type from anything before. I would love to know what combo set it off. 2 benedryl, a pharmacist watching me, and an hour later my face, hands and even my elbows are still swollen! I thank GOD that even though it burned my tongue that it didn't swell or I probably would not be alive to write this! Someone needs to pull this crap off the shelf!

Tried the shot today for the first time and within minutes I was on fire. Face, chest and upper legs were red and welts broke out. I was hot then got the shivers. Did not feel good this evening also..Felt really run down...I guess it was the the mass amounts of B vitamin...I had the wild berry flavor so it could have been that but it sounds like there were several incidents....this was the extreme energy 6 hour shot wild berry

hi i am a big fan of the 5 hour energy brand too, i'm 29 female, not allergic to anything and ontop of that often medicine doesn't work at all on me "perscription and over the counter" i might as well just be taking a sugar pill.. but anyway i digress. When i tried the 6 hour orange explosion i was unprepaired for the extream niacin effect since the 5 hour energy drinks have ever barely given me any. I had just ate a half a sandwich when i drank whole bottle at once. First thing i noticed was my tongue burning like pauli mentioned "ty pauli" it's very noticable but not too bad really, these energy drinks always seem so extreamly sweet to me "and i have a sweet tooth" then i got quesy all of a sudden. It was bad enough where i ran to the bathroom thinking i would get sick. However after a few moments it was ok and i got so much energy i wanted to start a congo line of the bunny hop "i was at work btw" I'm trying another one this morning, but this time drinking it VERY slowely.
Overall Opinion: Fairly good, needs more of a warning.

This stuff is VERY dangerous for some folks. The warning label is NOT sufficient! I am in the health profession and a label reader. I had a very scary allergic reaction yesterday w/in 2-3 minutes of drinking the crap. Niacin flush/Major hot flash, skin burning from the inside out. Face red as a cartoon devil and hot, hotter...hottest!! Skin turned blotchy red, started to itch immediately. Went to the bathroom and when I saw my face in the mirror I was SHOCKED! It was so swollen my normal aging folds and face looked like a Sharpei (dog breed). My heart rate went up and I was now SCARED! Took 75 mg. of Benadryl and my sister drove like an ambulance driver to the hospital ER 2 miles away. Treatment was Prednisone (for inflamation) Pepcid (for more antihistimine)and one more oral pill I don't recall. Physcians Assistant who treated me said this stuff was pulled by the FDA several years ago for causing heart attacks in some!!! Yikes... I believe it. Company fought hard to get it back on shelf. Buyer beware! I felt so stupid as if I should have known WAY better. I was so exhausted and just felt I needed a boost. NOT! Lesson learned the hard way. My 2 pack "on sale" bottles at Walgreen's were certainly no bargin for me. Can't wait to see what this is gonna cost me. UGH.

Anonymous said...

Wow a lot of people seemed to have very violent allergic reactions! I took the thing when I was just a bit tired and had no allergic reaction whatsoever! But here's the thing, I had no energy either! I drank it, felt a very slight increase in energy, then nothing. I practically had to exercise to wake myself up! I had plenty to eat, a little bit of not enough sleep, then nothing. This did not work for me.

I too bought this product on sale at Walgreens. 4 bottles for 5.00. My reaction scared me so much I thought I was going to die because I wanted a little more energy to play with my son in the garden. With in seconds, nausea. About a minute later, red hot face. I thought my body was burning from inside out. This is horrible. How can I say it any clearer, Walgreens! Stop selling this crap or class action law suit?

Anonymous said...

I actually liked this and did NOT have a bad reaction, thankfully. Of course, I did only drink a third of the bottle, not even half. It does need a stronger warning, though - I think a lot of people had severe reactions to the niacin.

my friends father had severe reaction to this no response ,fixed eyes ,foaming from mouth , had to jump out of car administer aid and call ambulance he was older just wanted a little pep. my god what if a small child injested this stuff!!! it at ,least needs to be behind the counter ,not right out on the counter as you walk out the door

I went to Ralphs this morning to get a five hour energy shot because me, my husband and my son were going to go to disneyland for the day. I ended up getting this shot instead figuring it was six hours and the same price as five hour... on the freeway right before the disneyland exit my chest tightened up on me and i felt like i could barely breath. Then as it started to fade seering pain shot through my arms and left leg... I think this stuff needs to be removed from the market. I feel it is in no way safe. I've never had issues with Five Hour Energy Shots and I'm only 20 years old, reactions like that are not normal for me what so ever... my body finds it hard to even get so much as a cold yet this stuff... it felt like it was trying to shut my system down on me. I quickly figured out it was the shot and once the pain stopped and we got to disneyland I ran into the bathroom and forced myself to throw up the contents of my stomach.

Anonymous said...

you have to read the label. only do 1/2 the shot at a time. first time i used this one i did the whole thing and I was beet red and thought I was going to fly away. since then I dod 1/2 every 3-4 hours when I take it. I have used many of the others out there and this is by far the best one. ORAGNGE flavor though. berry is horrible, and the 5 hour ones are horrible too. I have found a problem as I cannot locate these any more in Walgreens. THe manager just told me they are no longer carrying them and is not sure if the company is gone or just walgreen isnt keeping them in stock anymore. anyone know more about this? I have also never gotten sick from these. I work overnight on weekends and one bottle can ususally get me through both nights.

Anonymous said...

I bought this the other day and downed the whole 1st shot in the car in the parking lot of CVS.
I wouldn't say that I had "extreme energy" ... but I had a nice little momentum going all day.

I had no adverse reaction and no "niacin flush".

I just took the 2nd bottle and will see what happens.

For me - this probably gets a 7/10 score.

Anonymous said...

I too had a reaction from drinking the whole bottle all at one time. Hives, swelling, heat and fever, that is what the Niacin flush does to you. I too took a benadryl because I was not sure how bad it would get. However, I now take half a bottle when I want energy and it does not have the same heavy effect. My doctor told me it was the niacin flush from drinking the whole bottle at once. I like the taste, I like the energy and I only drink a half of one of those little bottles and everything is just fine.

Anonymous said...

I tried this energy drink b/c I couldnt find the 5 hour shot I usually drink. I drank it right away and within a minute or two, I didn't know if I was going to make it. By that I mean, it felt like I was dying (or what I'd imagine that feels like).

I literally had no idea what was happening to me or what to do about it. I could only try to drive myself home as fast as possible and headed straight for the benadryl. If I was thinking straight, I might have gone to an ER, but I just panicked and drove home.

My heart was pounding, I got these huge red patches all over my arms and legs and I felt like I was on FIRE! There is no way these things should be on a shelf anywhere. Beware!

Please...for God's sake..someone get this stuff off the shelves! I had never had a problem with the 5Hour Power drink before, but because Walmart was out, and there was an over-abundunce of "Extreme Energy 6 Hour Energy Shots" on the shelf(that should have been my first clue) I thought I would try this. Drank the whole thing as soon as I got in the car. Not even half a mile home, the Hell started. My skin was on fire, like being under a sun lamp you can't turn off, and I found it hard to take a deep breath. My chest felt like it was swelling yet contracting at the same time. I barely made it home before the severe cramping started. I hadn't eaten, so when I tried to throw it up, all I got were dry heaves which made the stomache cramping even worse. I truly thought it was time to call the ambulance. My husband tried to give me a Benadryl, but the thought of swallowing anything else just made me sicker. Long story short - I cluthched my stomache for the better part of 3 hours waiting for this Hell to pass. How can such a product be allowed on the market?? I am going to speak with the Manager of Walmart when I go back to return the other unopened 2-PK package I bought and make him aware this stuff needs to be pulled immediately!
Please..PLEASE..if you are reading this, tell anyone you care about to STAY AWAY from this product!!! It's only a matter of time before someone has a heat attack!

I am also a huge fan of the 6hr energy drink!I prefer the orange explosion flavor over the wild berry.Ive been taking this product for about a year now and I love it!
I am ADHD and have been on ritalyn from the time I was 5 until my senior year. then when I was about 30 I started taking adderal where I developed a tick and stopped taking any meds. Then one day I tried the 6hr drink and I was focused once agian!I use it for the mental focus! not the energy! I have plenty of energy! My husband also drinks it and doesnt have ADHD and it keeps him energized and focused! A friend of mine tried it and did have a alergic reaction, she is alegic to black pepper extract, and didnt read the ingrediants before trying it. you may want to read them before you try it!!! Make sure your not allergic to anything in it.
I swear by it and take it everyday! I love it and will continue to buy it!

Wow ... I've used this product before and never had a problem with it ... I usually take 'em before a PT test to get me going ... I just took one and within 5 minutes I felt like my body was on fire (inside and out) and my skin is still red and I have this 'sunburnt' feeling. I'm not sure why I've had this reaction as I've never had it before. Either way, I think I'm done with this one.

I am a female, 54 yrs old, who has never taken an energy shot product. I received this as a free sample and since I was exhausted this morning (an ongoing problem for me), I thought I'd try it. I took the entire shot, although it says you can divide the small bottle in half. I ate a small bowl of bran cereal with fruit and almond milk BEFORE I took the shot. I had no adverse reaction (thankfully!) It did do what it said it would. I actually felt energized and good (no allergic reactions, no palpitations). It is 5 hours later and I'm clear-headed and actually still working. I will use this product again.

Sweet Jesus did all these people really have such awful problems? I can't believe that this would actually be on the market if it happened so much. I've had several of these and never had any problems at all!

I don't think a lot of people realize there are INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOTTLE that say drink half first, and then half 3 hours in - that's how you prevent a freak out. I don't think this is really a good idea for people who don't favor caffeine on a regular basis though. If you drink a lot of pop or coffee or whatever you're probably better able to metabolize it.

I gotta say isn't it a little weird that so many negative comments come from anonymous people? anyway this stuff is great.

Drank my 1st and last extreme energy shot today. I drive for a living and 5 hour energy shots have become routine. However, they're expensive. Found the Extreme Energy shot on sale @ CVS for $.99 and figured it couldn't hurt to try it. WRONG! Pins and needles in my face, followed by burning, gut pain, a completely red face and bright red blotches all over. That was quickly followed by shortness of breath, fever, chills, a non functioning mouth, and disorientation. This company should not be allow to market itself as an alternative to THE 5 hour energy shot. It shouldn't even be sold over the counter. I had to get picked up at work. I'm a driver and I couldn't drive myself home. Glad that not everyone experiences these health issues, but the risk seems unusually high. The monetary cost of 5 hour may be higher, but since I just lost a days pay, it's worth paying more!

I think it's awesome. That sux that people have such adverse side effects. I take it all the time and it's great. And I take five hour energy and other energy shots. Drink lots of water and only take half a bottle and a time no matter which energy shot it is, they are all pretty powerful.

My names Jessica and yesterday was my 19th birthday, i went to a local gas station a got a 6 hour energy shot to get awake for the plans i had for my birthday, since i got up early n everything. i drank half and gave half to my boyfriend. we drove home and about an hour after i had taken it my heart began racing, in the time that i got up to walk from the car to inside. i could tell something was wrong, i didnt say anything because i thought it was normal side effects from the shot. i sat down in bed and just layed down, i waited 15 minutes, and then something was seriously wrong, my heart felt like it was failing me, i jumped up and grabbed the stethoscope, and tried to get to my mom, but only made it up two steps my heart rate was 154, my whole body felt like it was sweating, and i felt completely helpless and limp. We called The ambulance, i somehow managed to walk outside to sit and wait. when the ambulance arrived my heart rate was continuing to rise. It reached 180-190 on the way to the hospital when normal is 50-100 and it wasn't getting slower.. I was strapped down, with an oxygen mask on my face, i felt as if i were dreaming and dying at the same time, i could barley stay conscious, i was on boarder to having heart failure, or a major heart attack. They gave me an emergency only heart medication, that rebooted my heart and started to slow it down. They Put shock stickers on my chest and side, because they thought my heart was going to stop. I can remember looking around and seeing how worried everyone was about losing me, i only drank half of the shot, and thank god that i didn't drink the whole thing because i wouldn't be here today. Energy shots are extremely dangerous helloooo!!!!???
Lawsuit?!?!?!? Ive learned my lesson, and will never touch it again. What if a young child was to drink one? i am 130 pounds. and half almost killed me. NEVER AGAIN!.

I have been exploring different energy shots, and just tried this one this morning.

I generally like to stretch out the energy shots so the lift lasts longer, so I only drink half the bottle anyway. I did that with Extreme Energy, and I've had no problems so far: Nice mental perk, no nausea or stomach issues, no niacin flush, nothing! Just a steady happy buzz.

I think folks might be better off drinking half a bottle when they are trying any new shot. Each kind of shot is formulated differently, and just like any other supplement, more is not necessarily better! Start with the minimum dosage, and go from there.

Happy buzzing!

I just tried the extreme 6-hour energy shot for the first time. I thought that you were supposed to drink the entire bottle since I do that with the 5 hour energy shot. Boy, was I wrong. Within 30 seconds my entired body flushed to a bright red as if I was sunburned. I have prickly feelings on my skin. It was rather scary. My airway is fine, thank goodness but I'm shakey. Just took my blood pressure and thankfully it is still normal. I won't do this again as it was rather scary! I'm at work and look like I just got out of the sun after several hours -- red, red red!

Ohh my gosh! This stuff is insane! I usually take the 5 hour energy but thought I'd try the 6 hour extreme! Never again. I thought you were supposed to drink the entire bottle so I gulped it down. Within seconds my body broke out in a red flush as if I had an extreme sunburn. My skin feels prinkly and I'm hot hot hot! I'm always shaking really bad but thanksfully, my blood pressure is normal. I believe this is a niacin flush. Buyers beware!

I bought a 6 hour extreme energy shot having had the 5 hour energy shot and having no problems I didn't give it a second thought. I drank the entire bottle not knowing you should only drink half as I didn't read the label..my fault there. I instantly broke out in a very red flush to my entire body with a prinkly feeling on my skin. Never again. I believe what I was experiencing was a niacin flush. Thankfully my blood pressure is normal--well so far anyway. Buyers beware. Careful !! This stuff is strong!

I picked up the 2-pack 6 hour energy shot because Pick N Save was out of the 5 hour shot. As many other commenters stated, I drank it down just like the 5 hour shot. Within 2 or 3 minutes my scalp was tingling and itching and then my face felt hot and on fire (it was bright red) and my ear lobes felt like they were going to explode (they were bright red also). I didn't have any breathing issues but I made my husband drive to the nearest gas station to get me a bottle of water (we were in the car and about to go on the expressway). It was very cold outside but I had to stand out there to cool off. I drank the whole bottle of water and the reddness started to subside and within about 40 minutes I felt better. I did not experience any jitterness, stomach ache or dizziness just the extreme hotness. It felt like my face and ears were going to explode. The other commenters said the instructions said to drink only half (of course I didn't read them) but I will not try this product again. I am leary of going back to the 5 hour energy shot now. I probably will but I will be nervous about it at first. I threw the second bottle away and didn't allow my husband to drink it.

LEARNED MY LESSON... will always research any new energy products before taking, Have used several over the years and never a problem, This was different! received as free sample from bodybuilding.com with my other energy drinks and never dreamed I would have the reaction I did. INTENSE PAIN IN CHEST, BURNING AND REDNESS TO FACE, SWELLING OF HANDS WITH BURNING AND REDNESS MOVING UP ARMS, This is scary stuff! called bodybuilding.com they no longer carry this one. IF I HAD TAKEN THE TIME TO RESEARCH REVIEWS ON THIS I NEVER WOULD HAVE USED IT and would recommend to others not to even try it half bottle or not.

I have used Extreme 6-Hour Energy Shot for awhile now. I find the taste to be really yummy. It is a sweet fruity taste with a pleasant aroma. It does for me a really good job of getting me focused, feeling good without a distracting buzz. As for the negative side affects, I have had no negative experiences whatsoever. No nausea, headache, dizziness, jitters, crashed feelings and most importantly no accelerated heart rate, ect. Let's face it, no product is right for everybody. Use common sense when trying any product of this kind for the first time. Read the product label, (1/2 bottle max), for the first few times) to see how it affects you. Don't be like some people and just suck down the whole bottle. Try about 1/3 bottle and wait for at least 15 minutes to see how you feel. Drinking the whole bottle at one time for the first time, is like getting mad at Seagrams or Smirnoff and blaming them if you suck down the whole bottle and your eyes cross and you can't find the floor. It's not the product's fault, it is your own foolishness that got you there in the first place. To summerize..
This is an excellent product, that does as advertised. Use responsibly and with common sense. I highly recommend this product, but use it with common sense and good judgement.

I tried the Extreme 6-Hour Energy shot this morning and got the horrible hot, prickly skin about 30 seconds after drinking the whole bottle. It was a very uncomfortable and scary experience...luckily I did not have any other reactions except a faster heart rate due only to the fear I was having I think. This is strange because I have tried this 6-Hour version twice before and had no bad effect. This was the orange flavor today and before I think I had the berry. I almost took benadryl but realized what was happening after I read the negative comments...the flushing went away after a few minutes. I am wondering if the orange flavor has more niacin or could we have all gotten a bad batch? I usually take the 5-Hour stuff and will stick with that from now on; will use it with caution as well. After reading all the comments I feel fortunate I didn't keel over(I'm a 59-year-old female, small frame). Buyer beware.

No clue what all of you are going on about, I am a professional translator and am often awake three to four days in a row and lve on these energy shots to keep me awake.
Maybe you have to be healthy?
I have none of the side effects and maximum kick.
Remember, you can't go drinking coffe, coke or eating chocolates.

I think if taken right it will work right, sure, some people will be allergic but hey, when I was a kid I had some pizza and had all the reactions you talk about, guess what, I am allergic to mushrooms, life sux!

get some sleep if you can't handle the pressure!

I am only 14 and I took a regular 6 hour energy drink. I was on my way to school on the but and took it. When I got in the building and went to class, I was jumping around, shaking, dancing, and everything else you casn think of. Then I started to sweat, get hot, and feel dizzy. My heart was beating very fast like and the teacher worried about me and took me to the office. I said I was fine but everybody was getting scared because they didnt know if i can take it or not.I am very small. I am only 4'11 and 89 pounds and they thought that I could of passed out but I didnt. I really liked it, but at the time it really scared me of how the way I was acting...But I would not recremend this to kids or teenagers...Espacially, Extreme 6 hour energy shots. Thats would have probably kill me...But anyway this is my point of view.

I must say, Extreme 6-Hour Energy Shot is the only energy shot that works the way I want it to. I get the exact amount of energy that I want with no side effects. Although some of the reactions people have posted on here have scared the hell out of me. On days where I have a lot of outside work to do, I take one when I awake and a second about 7 hours later. I think I will limit myself to one a day after reading this page.

Also, I did see a lot of posts on here saying how they never had any problems with 5-hour energy shots but had a bad reaction to Extreme 6-hour. I believe most all these posts are true and honest experiences, but remember that companies search out blogs and review sites to sabotage their competitors. I know this because I used to do that very thing for a sports-book company. Just something to think about. Great blog Chan!

I tried this yesterday for the first time and a severe allergic reaction. I have previously taken 5-hour energy without a problem. Within about 3 minutes of drinking the shot (on an empty stomach)my stomach started to feel "crampy". This was immediatly followed by my skin feeling like I was on fire and all tingly which spread across my entire body. I started to shake, got dizzy, had trouble breathing and then nausea and dry heaves. The reaction happened quickly. Thankfully I work at a hospital and was taken directly to the ER where they gave me IV prednisone and benadryl and something for nausea. I started to feel better and withing about 10 minutes or so was feeling better. It took about an hour for the reddness to subside and then I was exhausted and out of it for the rest of the day.

Some of these energy shots are really dangerous. Buyer beware.

I work at a hospital as well, and a staff member took this CRAP...immediate reaction! Entire face was flushed from the niacin; swelling all over, severe hot flashes! Being a gym rat myself and have tried just about everything out there the past 12 years...immediately suggested Benadryl and flushing her system with as much fluid as she can stand. This should be taken off the shelf! No if's and's or butt's about it!

I just drank a 6 pack, built a barn, ran a marathon, swam to England, and died.

I won't ever take this energy shot again. After I took it I was really jittery could not sit still. Didn't like the feeling then started havng a stomach ache. Been having a stomach ache for hours now. Took Tums that helped for a little bit then pain came back. All I wanna do is go to bed and try to forget about the pain. They need to take it off the shelves if people are having so many bad experiences with it.

horrible...absolutly horrible! Puked all over my co-workers car and got red itchy blotch spots all down my arms and on my chest. My ears and face were fire red and burning like I had a high fever...with the chills. 5 hour power all the way...this shot is TERRIBLE!!!

I have taken many energy shots and had been looking for one that would really work. I don't mind the caffenine, but not into all the sugar and crash effect. I saw this at Rite Aid and decided to try it. Took it at 11am today and immediately felt the energy start. The taste was like a 5 hour energy shot. A few minutes later I felt like someone sprayed a mild pepper spray on my face and I could feel the heat. I figured this was probably the Niacin but I had never had a Niacin heat rush. This one obviously lived up to its name and the words on the inside of the box "BRACE YOURSELF!" This has a black pepper extract and not sure what that does but thought that might have been part of the reason. The pepper spray feeling subsided to a certain extent and the heat went down after about 15 minutes. No queezy feeling as I did eat. It's 6pm and still going. I definitely would've preferred trying 1/2 the bottle to start and recommend that as well. It was an intense rush but this product works. I have tried alot of them and they are ok but none of them give you that kick. This one did. Just be careful with this one and definitely eat before hand.

I am a healthy 22 year old and I took this energy shot and thought I was having a heart attack. I grabbed a bottle of 6 hour energy before cramming for a grad school test, I figured it would be similar to the 5-hour energy shots that I've tried. Wrong! A few minutes after I took the shot (and I only took half), my chest began to have severe pain and felt as it was constricting. I was short of breath, felt nauseous, and was burning up. I live alone in an apartment, and I honestly thought that if I stayed in my apartment I was going to pass out and possibly die. (And I am not exaggerating- I am normally a very calm and rational person!) I slowly made it to the elevator so I can have my doorman call me an ambulance. Luckily, by the time I made it downstairs the feeling was starting to subside. It was truly scary, though. Do not take this stuff!

i just bought 6 hour energy shot last night to finish an essay for class. i decided to sleep early and wake up like @ 1 am and drink it to start on the essay. unfortunately, i didnt wake up as early as i planned (woke up @ 6:30)So i went to school without an essay lol. during class, i got sleepy and couldn't focus, so i drank the whole bottle. It was also my first time drinking the product. 5 minutes later i got slight diziness and a mild chest pain. its now 40 minutes after i drank it and i still don't feel any energy boost. Actually, i can sleep right now if i wanted to. I don't think the shot failed, its maybe just my body structure.

Found a bottle of this stuff lying around the house so I decided to try it. Was feeling pretty tired when I drank it at 2pm. It is now 3:30am and I am still wide awake. I felt the affects of the drink pretty quickly, within a few minutes. Fortunately, I felt none of the negative side effects experienced by others, however that may be due to the fact that I had taken some anti-histamine earlier in the morning for my allergies.
Saved by the allergy meds!
If I had known about all these negative side effects, I would not have drank it.

I had a 'volts' 5 hour energy shot, within 10 minutes i was suffering with VERY extreme rapid heartbeats and could not breath properly, i went to the staffroom and drank alot of water and the symptoms went as quick as they came, although after that my face went very hot and red which lasted maby 10 more minutes, for the rest of my shift i felt very shakey and unsettled, i drank that little bottle for energy not irony, it done me more damage than good

I was considering giving these shots a go, but after reading the comments I think I'll give it a miss. But I do feel really good now after having a great belly laugh. The comments are so descriptive and very humorous. Forgive me, I am definitely not laughing at the seriousness of the side effects. Sally

This shot caused me to have hot spells and nausea. My heart felt like it was beating 90 to nothing. The most horrible feeling I've ever had from an energy shot

I took one about an hour and a half ago. Within a few minutes I was nauseous and burning up. The burning went away but I'm still slightly nauseous. Not to mention it tasted awful.
