Kronik Entourage

Knowing what you're going to get before you actually receive it can sometimes be a bit of a bummer, this relates to just about anything. Say your birthday comes up and you take a peek into someone's car, or room, and see they got you exactly what you have been wanting. In the energy drink socialization, knowing the exact flavor you're about to guzzle before you open it can be a disappointment, that's most likely I will try to refrain myself from looking at the ingredients list before having the drink itself. With the Kronik Entourage, I was in so much excitement after finding a can of it, I immediately took a glance at ingredients to find a few disappointing ingredients, like HFCS and Sucralose. Aside from sweeteners, the main flavors are a bit plain for a juice energy drink being just white grape, pear, and orange. Being such a mean energy drink company, I am almost positive Kronik can pull off a great ensemble with just those three fruit extracts, but I really can't be too sure until I open it up. Unlike a regular can of Kronik, the Kornik Entourage has orange barbed wire going astray all over the can, rather than just a segment of it on one part of the can. Seeing 80% Juice reminds me of the M-80, although the M-80 is sweetened with sucrose and glucose, and has more fruit ingredients.

Opening the can of Kronik, I find an aroma that best fits that of the original Kronik, with the fruity presence of the Monster Khaos. Out of the can, Kronik Entourage seems to be the color of light and carbonated orange juice, or perhaps even apricot juice, with little consistency. Sadly enough, Kronik failed at making a juice drink filled, instead, it tastes more like a dull orange-apple soda. Taking the first few sips, I note a flavor of mainly orange and apple, but it's harder to find even more flavor being covered in a wave of extremely dull corny syrup. I don't recall ever tasting an energy drink where I can actually taste more corny flavor than the primary flavor, Kronik Entourage has to be the first. In general, it tastes disappointing, with little real sweetness, and no actual fruity consistency I was hoping for. Along side that disappointing mess, I found an artificial aftertaste, like pure Spenda with little orange and white grape background. Having the traits of the soda, I felt it is necessary to note the amount of carbonation seems to be that of an average soda, but without the phosphoric acid. It could be that I'm not drinking a lot of this, but there seems to be not so much gumminess, although a few large gulps could prove me wrong. Overall, knowing a good company like Kronik, they would impress me with an amazing juiced up energy drink, but instead it was poorly structured, with artificial and cheap sweeteners.

Kronik really doesn't have as many ingredients, hence being less complex, here they are: carbonated water, white grape juice from concentrate, per juice from concentrate, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, orange juice from concentrate, natural flavors, caffeine, Sucralose and yellow 6. On energy ingredients, there's taurine, glucosamine, glucuronolactone, gurana, ginseng, inositol, milk thistle, and ginkgo biloba. Per can, there's a wasteful 280 calories and a not-as-bad 64g of sugar. Not many energy drink have I come across with 280 calories, that's just extreme, and I would not consider getting another. On energy ingredients, you get 200mg of taurine, 100mg of guarana, 100mg of ginseng, 50mg of milk thistle, and 50mg of ginkgo biloba. After finishing the can with much hesitation, I'll conclude the kick is pretty darn good, just like the other Kronik flavors, delivering much focus and not so much jitteriness. If you would happen to cross Kronik Entourage's face, do not get drawn in by it's mean can design. Just stay with the regular Kronik, if you trust Canned Reviews. So, after saying that, Kronik Entourage does not compare to the kings of juice energy drinks like Ace Juiced, Monster M-80, or Joker+Juice, but would be considered a lower class juice along with the Monster Khaos.

Taste: 6 - Just a terrible take on a juice energy drink...perhaps it would have been better without the HFCS and the Sucralose
Kick: 8.5 - I cannot stress how good Kronik's kick is packed in each can.
Overall: 6.5 - A lame overall flavored drink that frankly tasted more like corn than it did juice...

Kronik Low-Carb

I decided that it's been too long to have not reviewed Kronik's sibling, Kronik Low-Carb. After much thought, I knew it was time to review it, rather than a few other good ones I had in mind for today. I got this drink at Circle K, along with the regular Kronik; I'm sure you'll find a Kronik or two if you go to your local Circle K, they're everywhere. An energy drink sounds perfect today, just because I spent the first half of the day preparing for my upcoming trip, so let's describe this one briefly. The can design is fairly new being a section of blue barbed wire in front of a bright, gleaming silver background. 'Low-Carb' is stamped crooked onto the metallic can and spray painted black with abstract markings out and around it. I see the word 'Kronik in large sloppy letters and filled in blue, making it look pretty cool looking and rugged. I take a glance to the bottom right of the can where it says "Sweetened With Splenda"; whatever, at least they went out and said it is, unlike other companies that try to sneak it in their drinks. Just like most other sugar free energy drinks, this one may suppress my appetite, and it literally says that on the way bottom of the can. Okay, let's see how this compares to the Kronik as well as other sugar free drinks.

I crack open the can eager and extremely excited to smell a strong cotton candy aroma with an equal amount of grapefruit and pineapple. The color of this aromatic energy drink is a lively blue color, I'd say the same blue color they used on the can. At first, I'm a bit hesitant to take a sip because sugar free energy drinks seem to disappoint me, but this one is actually a whole lot better than I was expecting it to be. Unlike the scent, there's no cotton candy flavor to it at all, but a nice smooth grapefruit taste backed up by a bit of pineapple and possibly some lemon-lime flavor in the background. The flavor in general is great, tastes exactly like the original and the Splenda is masked incredibly. There's no artificial aftertaste whatsoever, one thing I noticed in this greatly masked sugar free energy drink. I'm sorry for this ramble but you know, If I was given a glass of Kronik and a glass of Kronik Low Carb, I'd think they gave me two of the same drink. The foamy head I witnessed earlier lied to me, insisting on a heavily carbonated drink, this one isn't heavily carbonated but lightly for pure enjoyment. I only found gumminess when I experimented by taking a few large sips at a time, but now after taking my time sipping it, I found no gumminess. You can choose how you drink it, but be aware of the gumminess following. Overall, this has to be one of the best sugar free energy drink I've ever tried, ranking up to number one with the Rockstar Zero Carb.

The ingredients is where it really gets interesting. It has carbonated water, taurine, citric acid, natural flavors, sodium citrate, glucosamine, caffeine, glucuronolactone, ascorbic acid, L-Tyrosine, ginger root extract, grape seed extract, licorice root extract, guarana, ginseng, milk thistle, ginkgo biloba, and Sucralose. Wow. I believe I did taste a bit of ginger root extract, it's minor but there's still just a bit in the background. The combination of grape seed, licorice root, milk thistle, and ginkgo biloba produces a real masterful energy drink, in terms of delivering some massive focus and energy. I also notice caffeine is pretty high up the list, I wonder how much is in one of these. Per can, you get 20 calories and only 2g of carbs (NO sugar, just carbohydrates). Energy content per can goes something like this: taurine is 2,000mg, glucosamine is 200mg, glucuronolactone is 150mg, L-Tyrosine is 100mg, ginger root is 100mg, grape seed is 100mg, licorice root is 100mg, guarana is 100mg, ginseng is 100mg, inositol is 50mg, milk thistle is 50mg, ginkgo biloba is 50mg, and L-Carnitine is 20mg. Hm, I wonder why they won't reveal the caffeine content, oh well. All in all, an insane energy drink, I loved every drop of it, and I know you will too. Get yourself a pair of Kroniks now.

Taste: 8.8 - A crisper and not-so-artificial version of the regular Kronik
Kick: 9 - Wow, the energy drink is set up with all the licorice root, milk thistle, grape seed, and ginkgo to produce one great kick
Overall: 8.9 - I'm interested in get a few more of these; they're great for something to drink when you don't want all those calories and all that sugar

Kronik

I knew exactly where to go if I wanted to get a Kronik to review: Circle K. I stepped into the store with confidence, purchased, walked out with a Kronik and a Kronik Low Carb, and chilled it for a few days. Although I said that I'll save the best for last, the best being Kronik, I'm going to review this one before all the others I have waiting in line. I think that everyone's heard of Kronik, and have heard of all the great things about it, that being the reason I've been admiring it for so long. It has a particularly new can design, a blue barbed wire and the word 'Kronik' in a sloppy blue font. Below that, 'Energy' is slapped on in a white spray painted font along with some abstract white spray paint dots. The top and the bottom of the can is lined metal barbed wire, probably meaning "Stay away, I pack a punch," we'll have to see... I'm a bit concerned at the disclaimer near the bottom "Caution: May Be Physchologically Addicting," which could just be their version of saying who it's not recommended for. Lastly, Kronik promises an 'Unrelenting Energy Supplement', let's find out now.

I open the can of Kronik to get an extremely potent grapefruit aroma, with some nice peach, mango, and citrus; I can't relate this scent to any energy drink I've tried. I expected a light color, like orange or yellow, but instead, Kronik threw in a mellow light blue color, with minimum fizziness. Well, I can't handle the suspense, bottom's up! Wow, I was hit with a light yet sweet blend of mainly peach and grapefruit, with a bit of original Monster mix thrown in, a great ensemble. It fades away from the tastes buds with a more noticeable Monster flavor and a bit of artificialness, most likely due to the high fructose corn syrup. The aftertaste doesn't change much from the primary flavor, just less powerful and peachier. Many people go insane for Kronik, but I have to disagree only because the HFCS gives it a duller flavor than I think it should really have. I knew it would be one of those drinks where if it were sweetened differently, it would make any Best Taste List, but for Canned Reviews, it just missed it. Kronik is also pretty heavily carbonated, so you may have to take it easy with the downing, although it's got a catchy flavor. I sense only a little bit of gumminess in this energy drink, which isn't bad. Overall, an insane tropical mix, but the HFCS really brought it down a notch or two.

Kronik excels in energy ingredients having 2000mg of taurine, 200mg of glucosamine, 100mg of guarana, 100mg of ginseng, 50mg of inositol, 50mg of milk thistle and 50mg of ginkgo biloba extract. As for other ingredients, this drink contains carbonated water, HFCS, taurine, citric acid, natural flavors, caffeine, niacin, and other basic ingredients. Per can, you get 260 calories, and 60g of sugar. With 60g of sugar I was surprised it wasn't as sweet as it should have been, and with 260 calories, same deal, not enough sweetness. The caffeine amount is undislcosed, like many other energy drink companies do, but I know it's a lot because right now I'm pretty hyped up. The ginkgo, guarana, and ginseng also play a massive part in giving you some awesome energy in Kronik, nearly worthy of the Best Kick List. I say this once again: if Kronik had put sucrose and glucose in their drink instead of HFCS, it would have had a much crisper and natural tropical flavor. All in all a great drink to try if you come across it, just know the flavor will be a bit duller than you may think it will be.

Taste: 8.7 - Kronik sure knows what flavors to put in each can that they sell
Kick: 9.3 - With all those nice ingredients, Kronik made the Best Kick List, rather than the Best Taste List
Overall: 9 - I really did enjoy this drink, and I'm sure you would too, despite the HFCS
