Full Throttle Coffee Mocha

I have the last of Full Throttle Coffee series and I hope this final one will close up the show nicely. The Full Throttle Coffee Caramel was really warm and comfortable, the Full Throttle Coffee Vanilla really woke me up with an intense sweet vanilla cream flavor, and I'm predicting a nice sweet blend of chocolaty coffee that'll really impress me. This can is my favorite, not because of the cool cork background, but the nice chocolate-brown color in front of the Full Throttle logo. I'm a bit upset at the fact that I see 48g of sugar, even more than all the other two Full Throttle Coffee energy drinks. If I thought that the Full Throttle Vanilla was sweet, I think I'm in for an insane mocha flavor, possibly too sweet for my liking. It's a Saturday afternoon and I'm extremely in need for energy because my eyes are droopy and I have a headache, so I'm really looking forward to opening up one of these coffees and waiting for the great energy soon to follow. Excuse this short paragraph, but I'm ready for the next paragraph, so here it goes...

I open up the can and find out that this mocha energy drink has an extremely strong aroma of chocolate and Arabica Columbian Coffee. It comes out of the can an unusual darker brown color, as if someone mixed some chocolate in it. My first thought on this drink is "Wow, that truly is a mocha flavor!" It tastes as if someone dropped a chocolate bar into a can of pure Columbian coffee and some mixed hazelnuts and pecans. I can describe this as the Monster Java Loca Moca and Nut Up mixed with some really robust coffee. I automatically think that this drink makes the Best Taste List; I've never a coffee energy drink as robust and sweet and chocolaty before. Another thought popped into my head. I think of this drink as a liquid Hershey's bar. A quick ingredients check reveals cocoa, which is what chocolate is made from. It's not gummy at all, due to the cream to balance it out, a good thing for energy coffees. Overall, this is one of the best coffee energy drinks I've tried, making the Best Taste List and replacing the Monster Java Nut Up.

The Full Throttle Coffee Mocha has a few more ingredients than their sibling coffee energy drink having coffee, skim milk, water, sugar, cream, cellulose gel, natural flavors, taurine, cocoa, caramel color, sodium bicarbonate, cellulose gum, ginseng, carrageenan, niacin, carnitine, caffeine, and guarana. Each 15 fl oz serving contains 1,134mg of taurine, 168mg of ginseng, 27mg of carnitine, and 1.3mg of guarana. It also only has a weak 131mg of caffeine, sure to give me energy for about an hour, that's it. Per can, you get a killer 270 calories and 48g of sugar. I'd have to say, this is the first energy drink with that many calories, and the first coffee energy drink to have that much sugar. As amazing as it tastes, I wouldn't buy this product again, it's too sugary, and frankly just a waste of calories. The Loca Moca didn't stand a chance to this insane coffee blend, and the Rockstar Roasted Mocha was nowhere near as great as this one. If you like sugary drinks and don't care about your intake, you'd love this drink to death, but if your concious about your weight, you want to be as far away from these Full Throttle coffees as you can. All in all, I loved the great blend of chocolate, Columbian Coffee, and mixed nuts (Hazlenut, pecan, almond), but probably the last time I'll try it.

Taste: 9.5 - Once again the best chocolaty, nutty coffee energy drink I've ever tried
Kick: 8 - The kick was just okay, especially when it only has 1.3mg of guarana, and 131mg of caffeine...
Overall: 9- Great drink, too sugary and too fattening for most people though...

Full Throttle Coffee Vanilla

I am continuing with my Full Throttle Coffee reviews, and this time I have the Vanilla flavor. So far, the Full Throttle Coffees have amazed me and have beat most of the Java Monsters as well as all the Rockstar Roasteds, I hope this one will too. The thought of Full Throttle coming out with coffee flavors and the fact that I've got them right here in my refrigerator still hasn't sunk in, but I'm sure it will sometime. It's been no more than 5 days since these drinks have been out, and yet I haven't heard anything about them from anybody but Jeff and I, I feel pretty lucky. The Full Throttle Vanilla has the same can design as all the others, which is a cork-like background, but this one is a white color, rather than a darker caramel or chocolate color. Full Throttle then slapped their glossy, in-your-face logo in the dead center of the can. I haven't really tried a good Vanilla Coffee energy drink, so I'm going to predict a powerful vanilla flavor, with some robust Columbian coffee, and possibly some mocha chocolate in the background somewhere. I'm about ready to find out here, so let's check this one out.

I opened up the can really quickly and got a sweet vanilla aroma with some strong coffee, reminding me of the Monster Java Mean Bean, an awesome drink. The color is a dirty white, not gray, as if someone put a lot of white coloring in a regular coffee-brown color. The flavor of the Full Throttle Vanilla seems to be like drinking pure vanilla coffee creamer with a bit of Columbian Coffee mixed in. What I'm trying to say is that this drink is sweet. It has a lot more flavor than the Full Throttle Caramel, but I'm pretty sure this one will give me an even larger stomach ache, due to the amount of sugar. Out of curiousity, I glanced over behind the can and noticed 43g of sugar, too much for a coffee energy drink, in my mind. As tasty of a flavor it has, Full Throttle just about ruined it was all the excess sugar, hence bringing down the taste rating I'm going to give it. Its aftertaste is a smooth robust coffee flavor that's pretty impressive. I'm really surprised this Full Throttle isn't gummy, because with that much sugar, cream, and milk, any coffee energy drink is bound to be really gummy. After letting it set for a little while, I find that this coffee is much better at room temperature, rather than being chilled for a few days. Overall, it's another one of those drinks that it's too sweet for some, but that energy drink fans who love sweet drinks will go crazy for. For the people who don't thoroughly enjoy a sweet energy drink, you might want to stick with the Monster Java Mean Bean.

As for ingredients, Full Throttle Vanilla has coffee (Columbian, 100%), skim milk, sugar, cream, cellulose gel, natural flavors, taurine, sodium bicarbonate, ginseng, carrageenan, caffeine, and guarana. I like how all the coffee energy drinks out there on the market have a nice ingredients list, all the basic ingredients, plus carrageenan, milk, and cellulose gel. Per can, you get a massive 250 calories, which most of it comes from the cream and milk, and 45g of sugar. Although 45g isn't a lot compared to all the other energy drinks, it's a lot for a coffee energy drink, perhaps too much for my liking. It has 5g of protein, which I belive it comes from skim milk; unlike many other energy drinks that do not have protein because it uses reduced fat milk. In terms of energy, this Full Throttle has 1,123mg of taurine, 167mg of ginseng, 27mg of carnitine, and a measely 1.3mg of guarana. In another spot, I find the caffeine content, 126mg, not a lot, but that's because you also have the natural energy coming from the coffee bean. So if you think about it, you need a lot of taurine, caffeine, or guarana in a coffee energy drink. All in all, if you find one of these vanilla energy drinks, stow it in a pantry until you're ready to drink it, unless you really want a sweet beverage.

Taste: 8 - Not a bad vanilla flavor, but just too sweet for a coffee beverage
Kick: 8.6 - This line of Full Throttles pound a punch, when it comes to a kick
Overall: 8.3 - An interesting one to try, I think

Full Throttle Coffee Caramel

What do you know, I have the few day old Full Throttle Coffee line of energy drinks. I haven't even seen this drink on any website, nor any store except Valley Produce. I knew that I had to get all three flavors and review them as fast as I can, before any other energy drink fan had the chance to try it before me. Full Throttle came out with three new flavors, mocha, vanilla, and and odd caramel, only a few days ago. Full Throttle has a nice cork-like background, with smooth caramel color to it as well as it's trademark cartoonish decal logo. I can tell that this drink will be pretty amazing due to the fact that it contains 100% Columbian Arabica coffee beans, found in no other energy drink coffee. However, I know it will be insanely sweet because it has 43g per 15 ounces, and it's sweetened with sugar, or a blanket term for a lot of sugars such as: fructose, sucrose, lactose. I cannot wait to see what this 15oz coffee blend has in store for me.

I was ecstatic when I opened up the can and found a smooth caramel aroma with a nice blend of regular coffee and a bit of sweet vanilla. This Full Throttle Coffee is a lot darker than other coffee energy drinks having a darker brown color, rather than tan. Full Throttle Caramel has a delightful irresistible caramel taste as well as a pure natural coffee taste and a slight taste of vanilla, hardly noticeable. One of the best coffee flavors since the I reviewed the Java Monsters, perhaps even better than some Java Monsters. Its aftertaste is just that of a regular black coffee, but without the bitterness. It's very appetizing and, surprisingly, I'm already finished with the can. I guess that shows that this is one heck of a drink to try. Honestly, Full Throttle Caramel is another one of those energy drinks were I just want to walk away from the review and just enjoy the drink. It's definitely not as sweet as I had predicted it to be, which is good because we all know how too much sugar can ruin a drink. With sugar Full Throttle isn't gummy at all, and I can really savor the rich caramel after not taking a sip for a while. If you happen to find these around you, you must grab one off the shelf or trust me, you will regret it later on.

As for ingredients, Full Throttle Caramel has coffee, skim milk, sugar, cream, natural flavors, cellulose gel, taurine, sodium bicarbonate, ginseng, caramel color, carrageenan, caffeine and guarana. Per can, you get a higher than average 250 calories and 45g of sugar, but it's worth it. If I were really weight conscious, I would skip this drink for sure, but since this is for the sake of Canned Reviews, I must have it. The caffeine content is a weak 126mg, resulting in a buzz lasting for about 2 hours, then a slight crash. You also get a disappointing 1123mg of taurine and a sad 1.3mg of guarana, but a nice 167mg of ginseng. All in all, if you dislike a strong coffee, and like a sweet caramel coffee, this one is perfect for you. If you're someone, however, who prefers non-sweetened or lightly sweetened coffees, you probably won't like this.

Note: Expect some stomach pain if you decide to run off the energy, or any other physical activities

Taste: 8.3 - An insane caramel coffee, the later on stomach ache brought this one down, though
Kick: 8.6 - An above average kick, lasting for a few hours (Or in my case, hanging out at the park watching fireworks)
Overall: 8.4 - I would definitely buy this one again, but let's see if the other Full Throttle Coffees can outperform

Full Throttle Blue Demon

Hey, I am here with yet again another review. This time, I purchased the Full Throttle Blue Demon. You may recall Brigham reviewing this awhile ago, but I feel that was in need of a more quality review. So I expect this to be a good drink. Surrounding it are two red outlined yellow flames. I also notice a metallic blue background that shines off the light streaming in my room. Lastly, I see the words Blue Agave Flavor, I'll find out what that means later. I know that this will be a good drink because I have heard many praise for it. So I'm getting ready to dive in...

As soon as I pop open the can, I get a sweet, tea like aroma, similar to the Rockstar Zero Carb. The color is an electric purple. That is a neat color, unlike anything I've seen before. However, there seems to be a large amount of carbonation. At first, I get a bold grape-like flavor with a slight taste of grass. That's from the blue agave, though. So, if you think you're drinking 'grass', think again, it's a type of cactus. The same cactus used to make Tequila. The aftertaste is similar to a blueberry, but is light and not very strong. If you've ever tried a Full Throttle, you might know that they pack a weak flavor in some of their products, but this, however is unlike others. I can tell you that is a light drink, but not light enough to chug, so take it easy on the sips. This drink is sweet, so, like me, you might get a stomach ache if you ingest too much at a time and will not be pleasant. Unlike what I have heard, this drink contains a large amount of gumminess, most likely due to the HFCS. Other than that, this drink is one tasty drink, and if you like a sweet, light taste to your energy drinks, I advise you to get this drink at a market, store, or wherever you buy drinks now.

Now the ingredients. First, I see carbonated water, and then, what do you know...HFCS. You can't hide from it, it's everywhere, but it's just a matter of how much you eat or drink of it. After that, you see...hmmm natural flavors, at number three? I guess that's how you know you're drinking a quality drink, right? Following that we see citric acid, sucrose and taurine. I haven't seen too many drinks that contain sucrose and HFCS, but that's okay. Taruine clocks in at number six, not too bad. Per can, you get 220 calories, about average for an energy drink, but I would refer around 170-200. You also get 57g of sugar, that's a lot, in my book. 50g is about average, which I am fine with, but I wouldn't drink more than 60g, that's just unhealthy. Oh, and by the way, the sucrose is part of the energy blend(caffeine, guarana, taurine, carnitine, ginseng, sucrose), which you get 3,000mg of. This was pretty good, not as good as I had predicted, but I would recommend it.

Taste: 8.5 - Unique, delicious, satisfying flavor, though it might be an acquire taste
Kick: 8 - I feel pretty jittery
Overall: 7.5 - Definitely a go-to drink

Full Throttle

I decided today to get an original Full Throttle from my local market, seeing as we've done a few other Full Throttles and haven't tried the original. The can design is interesting but a little bland, featuring the words "Full Throttle" in big font, and the words "original" in slightly smaller font. In even smaller font, the words "energy drink" are portrayed above a cult-like symbol in red. This is surrounded by somewhat corny looking flames, and look like some product from about 2 decades ago. On the side, a definition for Full Throttle is given, and some long saying which would be a little aimless to type here considering its length. Here we have an interesting saying of "Go Full Throttle or Go Home." This is also a product of coke, competing with Pepsi's "Amp". It's obviously a racing themed drink, with the name and whatnot. Let's go at Full Throttle into this this energy drink!

I snap open the can at full throttle, and no, I'm not done with the puns. I discover a light green drink, similar to a Mountain Dew. My first impression of the smell was that it reminded me, strangely enough, of green gummy bears, and upon tasting was like carbonated lime juice. It's made from citrus and I found that it started off slightly bitter and then went to a more sweet-themed flavor. In fact, after a while, it gets very sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. I also noticed a sweet aftertaste of Grapefruit, contributing to the bitterness overall, especially if you drink a large amount at once. There was a good amount of carbonation, and not good, like, a lot, but good, like, the right amount. The drink was somewhat cumbersome to chug as the sweet flavor really gets kind of old and you won't want much more. There was gumminess at full throttle (pun) and I deduced that as a product of the high sugars. There is quite a large amount of sugar in this can, but I'll elaborate later. It strongly resembles a very sweet Sprite. The lime isn't strong, but pretty sweet. I think that Coke did an okay job producing the flavors and although not very impressed, I mildly enjoyed the drink flavorwise.

I'm so far, even after only having the drink about 30 minutes ago, experiencing a mediocre kick, but I hope it goes up to (Guess what?) full throttle over the next 30 minutes or so. Scanning the back, there's a box next to the ingredients describing the (This isn't a pun, this is seriously what it says) Full Throttle Energy Blend. There's a whopping 3000mg of the blend, which includes caffeine, guarana, taurine, carnitine, ginseng, and sucrose. I found some info: Here we have 1194 mg of taurine, 177mg of ginseng extract, the carnitines turn out to be 28 mg, and you also get 1.3mg of guarana extract. I was a little surprised in taurine, as there is about 800mg less than in most drinks. Like I said earlier, (if you were paying any attention whatsoever) there's a lot of sugar, 57g infact, which greatly contributed to the amount of gumminess you will experience if you partake in the consumption of this drink. I also notice 220 calories and double the daily recommended values for vitamins B6 and B12, as well as the whole recommended daily value of niacin. An average amount of caffeine, 141 mg. This is all providing, as i write it and scan the ingredients, an average kick. I felt vitalized, but not really hyped up, and I did notice some jitteryness, which is kind of slowing down the time of me typing this review, what with all the mistakes I have to fix.

I wasn't really all that happy with this drink, and I would rather spend the same amount for a Monster, No Fear, or many other drinks that were actually better than average. I'll never get this drink again, not because it was bad, just because it wasn't better than other drinks on the market.

Taste: 6 - Whatever, I'll stick to better stuff
Kick: 5 - A sugar high, and a little bit of jitteryness
Overall: 5.5 - Full Throttle and Coke continue to phail.

Full Throttle Mother

Two drinks in one day, hurray! I am eager to find out what this Full Throttle has in stock for me today. First, the can design is the same kinda boring Full Throttle logo, with one exception: It mentions that "Nature is One Bad Mother." There is a green background and hmm...I noticed that this is a product of major brand Coca Cola. At the top of the can I noticed it mentioned that it has "Energy From Natural Sources" I guess that means it's organic. Well, I for one, want to find out what this product will give me. Shall we?

Hmm...Immediately, I smell an herbal tea-like taste. Who would have known? This product comes out of the can a dark amber color, similar to Monster. I am not too fond of the scent so far, but I haven't tried it yet. I have to keep sipping on it until I get the flavor. I cant quite put my finger on it...Okay, I think I've got it. As soon as it hits your mouth, you immediately get a minty taste, due to they herbs. I believe this drink could possible be made to give you a kick, not a great taste. I don't think this gives you any other flavor but mint. After awhile, the flavor just seems to fade away. No aftertaste or anything...I am pleased to report that there is minimal gumminess. You know what? This drink is not strong at all but has a not so pleasing flavor. However, I am not downgrading this drink because I am certain that this is NOT their best drink so far.

Okay, let's talk about the ingredients: The main ingredient is apple and pear juices from concentrate...interesting. Next, comes sucrose, an alternative to HFCS. After that, I see blueberry juice from concentrate. Put together, all these juices added into the drink cancels all its flavor out, welcoming in a minty flavor. Since this is an organic drink, I am not to suprised that this is free of taurine. Per can, you get 230 calories of good, organic energy. This is giving me a huge kick so far. I think you should know that this drink has 40% juice and is fully organic. That's all I have to say about this drink...

Taste: 8.5 - Most unique drink I've ever had, with a woody tea and acai taste
Kick: 7.5 - The Full Throttle kick

Overall: 8 - I think this is a must try, enough said.

As Jeff puts it...

"As I perform my dramatic can-opening ritual, I get a blast of and herbal tea scent. Pretty enjoyable, and dare I say, almost soothing. The color of the drink must come from the rosy Acai berries. The carbonation is moderate, as in all Full Throttles. At the first sip, the flavor is slightly minty, branching out into a tea-berry flavor. Nice and pleasing, but not necessarily boring. And with minimal gumminess and no aftertaste. The sweetener itself is interesting and tastes good, that being Sucrose. I think I can taste the woodiness as if there were a whole twig mixed in the beverage. ...Makes me feel like I'm connecting with Mother Earth herself. I suggest this if you are interested in an organic, woody flavor in your beverage."

Full Throttle Fury

After a quick visit to my local market, I found the drink I was looking for: the Full Throttle Fury. That's the red one, in the picture. I know I once had this before, and I remember how the flavor blew me away. So I decided it was worth reviewing, here on Canned Reviews. The can design is very basic, with the rugged Full Throttle logo, and some edgy yellow flames. Other than that, there's little to look at. I am looking forward to trying this beast, regardless of the dented can.

Ooh, the smell is very berry. Or orange. Or a combination of the two. More surprisingly, the red color I predicted from the start turns out to be a bright, almost flourescent orange. Appetizing. When I take the first sip, I am met with a simple orange flavor, which the color hints at. Then, there is strong, overpowering carbonation, that I think takes away from the flavor. And, sadly, I believe the sweetness is too little for this kind of drink. Maybe it would be better as a refreshing, subtle, uncarbonated drink. I'll like it better when it goes flat. So let me shake the can, releasing the carbon dioxide.

Ahh, well now, here is the experience I was looking for with this beverage. A light orange with no carbonation, and little sweetness. But I still can't overcome the eminent gumminess. I hardly recommend this to anyone, except as a cold, light, refreshing drink.

Now, the ingredients: From beginning to end: Water, HFCS (groan), Citric Acid, Taurine, Natural Flavors, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Benzoate (preservative), Ginseng Extract, Caffiene, Carnitine Fumarate, Yellow 6, Caramel Color, Niacinimide (Vitamin B3), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Guarana Extract (finally...!), and Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12). Pretty uninteresting and lame. I only expect a sugar high from this, if anything.

Taste: 6 - Boring and weak orange flavor
Kick: 4 - Haven't felt anything yet, but I am bound to at least get something from the sugar
Overall: 5 - Not the most interesting energy drink I've had
