Xyience Xenergy Cran Razz

Previous experiences with Xyience have been a roller coaster ride. Being that most of the Xyiences are reviewed, I can conclude that you will not really know if you like it until you crack it open for yourself. What I'm trying to get out to you is, you have to select certain Xyience drinks because, really, some are terrible and some are amazing. My last encounter with Xyience was the Blu Pom, and I thought it ranked up there with the best sugar free energy drinks. Prior to that, however, I've tried the Big Apple, and the Pink Lemon, which were just plain disappointing. It may be because I love the Blu Pom, but something told me to review this one right now and it was the first drink to pop into my head. So, digging through my pile of energy drinks, I found the Cran Razz and immediately pulled it out with great hope. Xyience Xenergy appears to be a Japanese/Chinese energy drink company, being that there are Asian symbols on the can, but what really makes me laugh is that it's the official energy drink of the UFC. Xyience makes their logo stand out in an odd way because it's some sort of bar code, but it looks pretty neat to me. Okay, well that just about concludes the intro, let's taste it out.

Tearing open the tab and hearing a loud 'Pop' indicates it's time to go in for a scent. As I do, I find a nice blend of genuine cranberry, with a blast of wild berry, reminding me generally of the BooKoo Wild Berry Zero Carb. Pouring it into the glass, I was a bit unexpected of the color, being a dark and fluorescent purple hue, although I had thought it would be light red because of the berry combination. After swigging the drink from the glass, I can't say much positive thoughts of it as it tastes like a bland artificial cranberry-raspberry mixture. I'm trying the oh-so-helpful method of swishing it around in my mouth to see if I can find any real flavor, and I do. If you were to do this, you'd taste a more in depth sweet cranberry-raspberry flavor, with a nice, sour bite to it. It took me quite awhile to find out what this drink tastes most like...once I've figured it out, I feel pretty good. It tastes almost exactly like the Crunk Sugar Free, without the herbs and technical details to go along. Curious to find more flavor, I drink half the can to find that now, I am adjusted to the flavor and it appears to be more up front and a whole lot better. Numerous times have I had drinks like this, they start off either bland or nasty, but as you progress through the drink, you find it tastes pretty darn good. I would say that's the case with this Xyience energy drink. It's aftertaste is light on the tongue, being some artificial sugar and a bit of sweet, fruity flavor. On gumminess and carbonation, both of them are light, nothing too serious but pure enjoyment. Overall, this has to be the first Xyience that was in between great, and in between not-so-great. It has the flavor it needs and the potential to be ranked up there with the sugar free gods, just not enough of it.

Xyience packs some nice and decent ingredients in one can, most of them being relevant, and others not necessary. Here's the complete list of all the ingredients in a can of Xyience Xenergy: filtered carbonated water, citric acid, taurine, sodium citrate, natural flavors, fruit and vegetable juice for color, gulucuronolactone, caffeine, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, D-Calcium pantothenate, guarana, Sucralose, ginseng, L-Carnitine, inositol, niacin, acesulfame potassium, pyridoxine hydrochloride, and cyanocobalamine. I just said how some ingredients weren't necessary, some in particular are Sucralose and fruit and vegetable juices. I'd like to see a sugar free drink sweetened with just good ol' acesulfame potassium, none of that artificial junk. No energy drink company but Xyience puts fruit and vegetable juice in their drinks, which really doesn't make a difference compared to all the other colors I've seen. In one 16 ounce can, you don't get any calories, nor do you get any sugar, but you get 30mg of potassium. The proprietary blend in a whole can (caffeine, guarana, ginseng, etc.) is 2,680mg, which is pretty weak, compared to a Monster. I can't argue with that because Xyience packs their drinks to give off a nice, long-lasting kick, that's just plain great. All in all, I wouldn't say Cran Razz is their worst drink, but it's definitely not as great as the Blu Pom. In fact, as a side note, if I were feeling kinda mellow, this is definitely a drink I would go for.

Taste: 7.4 - Nice, smooth, sour cranberry and raspberry flavor, I would most recommend this if you're just getting into energy drinks yourself
Kick: 8.2 - Once again, a great Xyience-brand kick always follows
Overall: 7.7 - My quest to try all the mysterious Xyiences moves on...

Xyience Xenergy Blu Pom

Seeking out energy drinks are always fun, as I've stated before, especially when they have weird labels, like Xyience or Xenergy. Names like these usually mean a great drink, and I mean great. From previous experiences with Xyience, I think they are a good energy drink company, strictly sticking with Sugar Free energy drinks, and containing some odd ingredients. The problem I've faced with Xenergy is that when you crack it open, it tastes incredible, but by the time you're half way through the can, it tends to get pretty artificial and just plain terrible. Being a big fan of pomegranate, I hope to not see a disappointment to my favorite fruit. I am mostly convinced to see 'Blu' in front of 'Pom', probably insisting on a different color, and maybe another fruit put into the mix. I might also want to mention Xyience produces an amazing kick, with no exceptions. I'm positive this can is themed on an Asian style, but I can't be too sure if it's Chinese or Japanese. There are two Asian words on the can that may mean Xyience Xenergy. Because I'm in dire need of energy, I'll cut this short and just open up the can

After tearing into this can of Xyience, I am not too surprised at it's scent, being a warm blueberry, cranberry, and pomegranate aroma, very pleasing. Poured out of the can into a clear glass, it has the color of pomegranate juice and blueberry, but not really intensely dark. It's something Xyience does or puts into their energy drinks that give it that Jolly Rancher type flavor, just like drinking liquid hard candy. Imagine the blueberry Jolly Rancher with an equal amount of pomegranate added into it, with very little traces of mixed berry. For a sugar free drink, I find not too much artificialness, but oddly gumminess. I've come across just about every Xyience energy drink, and I have to say, Xyience sure knows how to create a pomegranate and berry infused sugar free energy drink. Chugging this drink fast, it tastes a lot like jam you put on toast for like breakfast, almost like the Go Fast. Unlike what I've noted previously with Xyience, I find this drink to be interesting throughout the whole can, every sip being refreshing and just flat out tasty. Finding a mild aftertaste, I'll conclude it's most like that jam I was just saying, but just mild in general. On carbonation, I discovered a heavy amount, almost like a soda, but I believe it just improves the energy drinks presence, especially in sugar free drinks. It's slightly gummy, with the two important sugar free sweeteners, Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium, but not as much as if it were sweetened with HFCS. Overall, I'll have to say Xyience has won, in making the best pomegranate/mixed berry sugar free energy drink.

Ingredients wise, energy drinks vary, but usually sugar free energy drinks have much more energy drinks, just to as complex as it should be. Xyience's energy ingredients are as following: filtered carbonated water, citric acid, taurine, sodium citrate, natural flavors, vegetable juice for color, glucuronolactone, caffeine, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, Vitamins B, guarana, ginseng, Sucralose, L-Carnitine, Inositol, and acesulfame potassium. Xyience has to be one of the only companies that put in vegetable juice for color, but I guess it's good because Xyience really does have a beautiful color. It really is a shame Sucralose has to be in every sugar free energy drink (And in some regular energy drinks too), but I think scientists are working hard to create something similar, but not as artificial. I'll have to look more into that. Per can, you do not get any calories, nor do you get any sugar, which, to me, is amazing. Finding this much flavor with so little artificialness is what it takes to be on the top 10 of our favorite sugar free energy drinks. All in all, I continue to say, Xyience has really stepped it up on this flavor of energy drinks alike, compared to their other sugar free siblings.

Taste: 8.4 - Very impressive pomegranate/berry sugar free energy flavor
Kick: 8.6 - With nice ingredients comes a kick lasting for a few hours
Overall: 8.5 - If you have read our Xyience reviews, you'd know by know which Xyience to go with if it comes to that situation

Xyience Xenergy Mango Guava

Chan's the only one so far who's dealt with Xyience and the Xenergy drinks, but luckily, Chan snagged me one while he was on holiday in Vegas. So now I have possession of the Xyience Xenergy Mango Guava. Mango and guava seem like two wonderful tropical fruits that would go together nicely. It wouldn't be too difficult a flavor to pull off with real fruit juice, but knowing Xyience does not use any fruit juices whatsoever, the taste might be an issue. What I'm also concerned about is the sweetener. For some reason, Xyience sweetens all of their drinks with Sucralose, which we all know is my least favorite sweetener. In Chan's review of the Xyience Big Apple, I remember how he disliked the artificial sweetener's taste and the massive gumminess. I doubt I'm in for as much gumminess, but I can't imagine this not having an unappealing sucralose aftertaste. Hopefully, Xyience's reputation for making great sugar-free drinks proves to be true.

I popped the can open without haste and was very delighted with a lucsious, flavorful, and clean peachy mango that's moderately artificial. In fact, it's just a bit more natural than those gummy peach rings you find in little bags with a little bit of that characteristic guava from the Rockstar Juiced Guava. Once you smell that, there's really nothing more. To my surprise, the color came out completely clear, instead of the yellowy red I had predicted. Tasting this for the first time, it's actually very good and that same amazingly overpowering mango-peach-guava flavor comes through, but not as strongly, as it's muted by the fine carbonation. At first, I'm thinking this ranks way up there with some really great drinks like the Rockstar Zero Carb and Monster Lo-Carb, but then I can taste the sucralose losing its sweetness and this drink getting a whole lot blander with that sweetness-mimicking effect of sucralose. Just like so many other drinks solely sweetened with sucralose, like the Pure Fuel, this drink loses all sense of sweetness and takes on a sort of sour and artificial taste instead. Just like Diet Coke. If you've had Diet Coke, you know that feeling of fake sweetness that doesn't satisfy one bit. Although the flavor itself is incredible, the sweetener kills it. I would love to see this done with good 'ol sucrose and glucose.

I'm not familiar with the Xyience kick, but it did serve me well. The energy ingredients include 2.68g of taurine, glucuronolactone, caffeine, guarana extract, panax ginseng extract, inositol, and l-carnitine. Taking a good look at that, the energy ingredients look very strong. This is the first time I've seen a 16oz drink exceeding the standard amount of 2000g of Taurine per can, with 2.68g. All of these strong energy ingredients add up to a screaming kick that should get you flying for a good two hours and then give you good alertness for about three more. Though I don't recommend this for its flavor, the kick is favorable.

Taste: 7.5 - Kudos for amazing flavor, but marked down for crappy fake sweetness
Kick: 9.2 - Does very good, even compared to Monster
Overall: 7.9 - Good on kick, lame on taste for the most part

Xyience Xenergy Pink Lemon

It's funny how energy drink companies never seem to cease making any and every flavor that comes to their mind. One that came to my mind awhile ago was a pink lemonade flavored energy drink, and I thought to myself, "Wow, I would really like to try an energy drink with a Pink Lemonade flavor! Wouldn't that be quite interesting?" Next thing I know, I'm here whipping up a review with a pink lemon energy drink in my hand. I'm so eager to finally try one of these as I know that it may not be what I'm looking for because it's sugar free hence sweetened with Spenda and acesulfame k. Now, if you're into finding one of these, your resources may be limited because I know that I had to find this while I was traveling great 200+ mile trips, so this may not be one you'll find at your local grocery supermarket. I'm observing the can and admiring Xyience's great use of the can design they had to work with. I see just a few basic pink and purple circles in front of a gleaming almost perfect silver background. Their pink and purple fonts lead me to believe that they are perhaps targeting this drink for women, rather than guys, However, it's made by UFC, which is the league of fighting championships, so how could this make sense? I, myself, do not know, but the taste can possibly determine it.

I wanted to hit the hay early tonight but I craved an energy drink. So, I crack open the shining sugar free beast and admire the pungent yet somewhat artificial blend if lemonade with that 'pink feel' it gives. Xenergy Pink Lemon reveals a color most similar to the Rip It Chic Sin A Man, with more of a translucent hue and a bit less carbonation. Aw, the flavor is not what I had expected at all. Well it first tackles you with a wall of artificial sweetener with unknown other flavors in the background, perhaps strawberry tart. It then seems to change to a fake lemonade flavor, similar to the ones you can buy in sugar free powder form that dissolves into water. In all, it's hard to find a taste after having all the Sucralose merge and collapse into one giant mess of an artificial energy drink flavored with what seems to be a pink lemonade flavor. I guess that's how you can sum up the entire flavor of it. The aftertaste can be described as more of that introductory tartness with noticeable artificialness. I guess I can ind something good in something not great, the light carbonation. It feels good on the tongue when the carbonation hits it as it's perfectly carbonated. I didn't find much gumminess, but the artificial sweetener definitely did make up for it though. Overall, it's another disappointment from Xyience, and frankly not flavorful enough to be even called Pink Lemon.

Xyience manages to sneak in some cool ingredients. Here's the detailed list: Carbonated water, citric acid, taurine, sodium citrate, natural flavors, glucuronolactone, caffeine, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, D-calcium pantothenate, guarana, ginseng, Sucralose, fruit and vegetable juices, L-Carnitine, inositol, niacin, acesulfame potassium, gum acacia, and ester gum. The fruit and vegetable juices are in here not for taste reasons, but for color reasons, although I found it hard to find a color based on any fruit or vegetable out there. Perhaps there's some sort of pink fruit-bearing plant out there somewhere that I don't know about. Per can, you don't get any calories, nor do you get sugar, but there are 4g of carbohydrates most likely coming from the juices in the drink. The caffeine content isn't listed individually but all together, you get 2680mg, which isn't a lot at all, but hey the kick wasn't bad. The kick bore about a good two and a half hours of solid energy and a decent crash. All in all, I don't think a sugar free energy drink gets much worse than it is in this Pink Lemon drink, but the kick wasn't half bad.

Taste: 5 - All I could taste was a wall of Sucralose with a tinge of lemonade flavoring somewhere
Kick: 8 - The kick gave this drink bragging rights to be the energy drink of the UFC
Overall: 6.5 - We still have to review a few more Xyience's, I'm curious to see how they compare

Xyience Xenergy Big Apple

I've been scoring lately on the amount of good energy drink findings. I was lucky to stop into a gas station called Terrible's to find a galore of unknown energy drinks. Unfortunately, I only got one, which is the Xyience Xenergy Big Apple, a sugar free and calorie free drink. I've heard of the energy drink company Xyience before because I heard they are one of the best sugar free energy drinks on the market, so I feel pretty thrilled to review it. Xyience released its new can design which consists of two circles of green shades with two chinese symbols. Really have no clue what they mean, but whatever. Oh, and did I mention Xyience is the official energy drink of the UFC? Well, it is. Anyway, I'm interested in Xyience's logo, an odd bar code. Perhaps it's some sort of code that when you translate it into English, it spells out 'Xyience.' Okay, well I'm gonna start this one off by opening up the can...

I open the can to get a Jolly Rancher-like green apple aroma, with some sourness. Out of can, Xenergy Big Apple reveals an almost clear color, with a slight green tint and little fizziness to go along with it. The first thing I notice about this drinks taste is how mild and artificial it is. I wasn't expecting a mild green apple taste, with a hint of Chinese spices that burns the tongue slightly. It fades away with some quite noticeable sucralose and a lot of carbonation. I believe this drink would be a lot better and more pleasant if it weren't so artificial tasting because I know Xyience packs a pretty nice flavor on the palette aside from the sucralose. It has no aftertaste, besides a bit of mild burning on the tongue, but your throat gets pretty backed up due to the amount of gumminess found in the Big Apple. Sadly, for a sugar free energy drink, I found almost as much gumminess as an Amp, and we all know how bad an Amp's gumminess is. I also mentioned earlier that I noticed quite a bit of carbonation, but nothing compared to the taste and gumminess. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in Xyience, I thought I was in for a real treat when I found it.

As for ingredients, I see filtered carbonated water and then citric acid. Usually, a type of sugar comes after carbonated water, but this is an exception because it's 'sugar free'. Following that, taurine is seen coming at number three and then natural flavors. Xyience's other ingredients read as following: caffeine, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, D-calcium, pantothenate, guarana, ginseng, spinach (Woah!) extract, sucralose (There's your problem), L-carnitine, inositol, niacinamide and acesulfame potassium. Sucralose is perfectly fine in an energy drink, but sugar free energy drink makers have to be real careful on how much they put in because that is their only sweetener in a drink and too much can lead to a terrible drink. This one, didn't seem to be made with much care, in terms of being sweetened, otherwise, I really would have enjoyed its mild green apple flavor. Per can, you don't get any calories or sugar. I know, it is pretty uncommon to see no calories in an energy drink, but Xyience went there and did it. I don't think this one is worth buying, but it definitely isn't terrible.

Taste: 7 - I'll give it to Xyience just this time because green apple is a rarity
Kick: 8 - My eyes are pretty wide right now
Overall: 7.5 - An average drink, nothing special
